Apple Crumble
Warm, comforting apple crumble with a buttery, crunchy topping. Perfect served with custard or ice cream.

Ingredients
Bramley apples
peeled
Lemon
juiced
Golden caster sugar
Ground cinnamon
Plain flour
Salted butter
chilled and diced

You'll need
- Food processor
- Ovenproof baking dish
- Large mixing bowl
Method
Make the crumble topping
To make the crumble, put the flour and butter in a food processor and pulse to rough breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and a big pinch of salt.
Prepare the apples
Heat the oven to 190°C/fan 170°C/gas 5. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the cores. Thickly slice and toss with the lemon juice, 150g of the sugar and the cinnamon. Put the apples in an ovenproof dish.
Assemble and bake
Scatter the crumble mix over the apples, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle over the remaining 25g sugar. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden on top and bubbling around the edges.
Serve
Serve warm with custard or ice cream.
