A modern classic from London's Dick Bradsell, created when asked for a drink that would 'wake me up, and f*ck me up'. The key is technique: shake vigorously for a full 10 seconds with the best quality coffee you can find.

Coffee liqueur

1 measure — Kahlúa or similar

1 measure

Fresh espresso

1 measure — use the best quality coffee available

Sugar syrup

Combine

Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, fresh espresso, and sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker.

Shake

Add ice and shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds — this is essential for the signature foam.

Double strain into a chilled Martini glass.

Garnish

Place three coffee beans on the foam to garnish. When making two at once, pour half into each glass then re-shake to restore the froth — you can also dust with chocolate powder.
