Espresso Martini
A modern classic from London's Dick Bradsell, created when asked for a drink that would 'wake me up, and f*ck me up'. The key is technique: shake vigorously for a full 10 seconds with the best quality coffee you can find.
Ingredients
Vodka
Coffee liqueur
1 measure — Kahlúa or similar
Fresh espresso
1 measure — use the best quality coffee available
Sugar syrup
Coffee beans
to garnish
Ice cubes
You'll need
- Cocktail shaker
- Martini glass— chilled
- Strainer
Method
Combine
Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, fresh espresso, and sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker.
Shake
Add ice and shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds — this is essential for the signature foam.
Strain
Double strain into a chilled Martini glass.
Garnish
Place three coffee beans on the foam to garnish. When making two at once, pour half into each glass then re-shake to restore the froth — you can also dust with chocolate powder.
